I am so, so, SO excited to share this post with you today! I bought a few of the new Urban Decay Afterglow Blushes, after happening upon a post on Urban Decay’s Facebook Page. Some of the colors are already sold out on Sephora’s page (shocking) so I’m glad I got my order in early!
I’ve been waiting for a week to get these new blushes in, and when I saw UPS walking up to my door today I couldn’t control myself. Do you think the UPS driver thought it was weird I was waiting in the doorway, baby in hand?? Maybe – but probably not since he is at my house a lot. Oops.
If you want to see the colors up close, and how they swatch – keep reading!! Oh…and I just might being giving one away <3 <3 Instructions will be at the bottom of the post.
So I took the plunge and bought four colors. Yes, four colors. I have so many blush palettes, blush pans, and individuals – I really do not need anymore. BUT when I saw these, I was pretty impressed with the color selection. I mean, most blushes have the pinks, the mauves, the nudes, but the actual vibrancy of the colors looked beautiful. When I opened them today, I was not disappointed.
I’ve labeled the colors below – and provided direct links to those colors on Sephora’s website.
The only one of the three that has sparkle/shimmer in it, is Rapture, the one all the way to the left. I was nervous at first, because it seemed pretty glittery in the pan. Sephora describes the blushes, as being “highly-blendable” and “finely milled” with coverage that is “sheer and lasts 8 hours”. When I read the words finely milled, I don’t expect to see such sparkle. Also – The idea that these would be “sheer” , wasn’t so believable with how bright they seemed in person.
Believe it or not, with all the coloring the pan, they really are not all that pigmented! The swatches on my finger are from a couple of swipes, because I really wanted to make sure it was visible for you guys. The texture is extremely smooth and creamy – similar to the Naked Skin Ulta Definition Powder Foundation by Urban Decay. The quality is on point.
After I swatched them on my arm, I was sold. I honestly thought I was going to return Rapture after seeing the glitter, but I LOVE it. It applied very sheer and lightweight, just like the rest of them. Normally everyone is obsessing over how pigmented something is, but when it comes to blushes the sheer coverage is much more user friendly. It makes it easy for people like me who have a light complexion, because I can experiment with a few colors without feeling overwhelmed. It’s also great for beginners, because you won’t have to worry about being too heavy handed.
Overall I am impressed with the blushes. The packaging is sleek, it doesn’t come with one of those silly brushes you’ll never use, and the texture seems to live up to the lengthy description on Sephora’s page. As far as the claims it will last 8 hours – that is yet to be tested. They do run a tad pricey at about $26.00 a piece, but you don’t need to buy four of them. If you are looking for an every day blush that is easy to apply, there are a few muted colors that would work! Because they swatch so sheer I would recommend going into the store to test them out, if you are hesitant.
Now, the fun part. While I was purchasing these and seeing colors sell out I figured – what the heck? I’ve started this blog very recently, and wanted to give back to people who have started reading it. The blushes are on the more expensive side, and I know some of you won’t go out and just spend $26.00 on one product. Sooo.. I bought an extra one – and you guessed it – its that unopened one sitting stylishly in the middle of my four! It is in the color “Quickie” which is the bright blue pink, all the way on the end.
